After missing out on 2020, Devonte Smith has an opponent lined up for next year.
MMA Fighting confirmed with sources with knowledge of the matchup that Smith (10-2) will fight Brazilian Alex da Silva (21-3) in a lightweight bout at a UFC event on Feb. 6 with a location still to be made official. The bout was first reported by MMA reporter James Lynch.
Smith has been out of action since suffering a knockout loss to Khama Worthy at UFC 241 in August 2019. “King Kage” later injured his achilles during a practice, which required him to undergo surgery that prevented him from booking any fights in 2020.
