The fifth day of the so-called War Machine trial did not feature Christy Mack on the stand, though saw several other notable witnesses provide testimony.
Las Vegas detective Daniel Tomaino, who visited Mack at the hospital in the immediate aftermath of her brutal August 2014 attack, testified that he was unable to make sense of her statement because of the extent of her injuries.
“I just couldn’t understand what she was saying but it was because she didn’t have teeth,” Mr Tomaino revealed at the trial on Friday.
War Machine, formerly known as Jonathan Paul Koppenhaver, is on trial for 34 felony charges, including attempted murder, kidnapping and various counts of sexual assault.
