While top contenders like Alexander Gustafsson are not pleased with the finalization of the Stipe Miocic vs. Daniel Cormier super fight for UFC 226 on July 7th, heavyweight fighters seem more accepting of the idea. For number six-ranked contender Derrick Lewis, one of the reasons could be what he feels is the lack of consistent performances by UFC heavyweights, himself included.
“That’s good that (Miocic vs. Cormier) is happening because no one else in the heavyweight division is being consistent,” Lewis said on Monday’s episode of The MMA Hour (transcript via MMA Mania).
