Demian Maia, who headlined UFC’s last trip to Rio in March, will take on rising welterweight Neil Magny on Aug. 1. Tatame first reported the bout, which was later confirmed by UFC Brazil general manager Giovani Decker on Revista Combate.
Maia (20-6), a former UFC middleweight title contender, is 3-1 under the UFC banner when fighting in Brazil. The jiu-jitsu ace enters the bout coming off back-to-back wins over Ryan LaFlare and Alexander Yakovlev, both fights contested on Brazilian soil.
Magny (15-3), who lost to Sergio Moraes in his first trip to Rio de Janeiro in 2013, meets Maia after racking up seven straight victories in 15 months, earning post-fight bonuses in stoppages over Hyun Gyu Lim and Kiichi Kunimoto.
