The UFC isn’t exactly going head-to-head with Canelo Alvarez vs. Sergey Kovalev on Saturday night.
The highly-anticipated title bout for the WBO light heavyweight title will be held until the finalization of the “BMF” title fight between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz at UFC 244, MMA Fighting has learned. That means fight fans that hope to watch both events won’t have to deal with conflicting times.
Alvarez-Kovalev, which takes place in Las Vegas, Nev., should start around 1 a.m. ET, when UFC 244’s main event is expected to conclude.
“We saw Dana’s comments about staggering the start times, and we completely agreed,” Joe Markowski DAZN EVP of North America told MMA Fighting.
