There are only three HBO events left in 2018 before the network closes its doors on live boxing coverage after 45 years in the business. The first of those three is tonight (Saturday, October 27th) from the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden, as Daniel Jacobs (34-2, 29 KOs) takes on Ukraine’s Sergiy Derevyanchenko (12-0, 10 KOs) for the vacant IBF middleweight (160 lbs) belt. It is very much a tough fight to call, but if Jacobs wins, he could be facing Canelo Alvarez next year on DAZN.
Also on the card is a WBA super-featherweight (130 lbs) champion Alberto Machado (20-0, 16 KOs) returning to action against Yuandale Evans (20-1, 14 KOs), while Bellator MMA fighter Heather Hardy (21-0, 4 KOs) rematches Shelly Vincent (23-1, 1 KO), this time for the vacant WBO women’s featherweight title.
