There’s a little less space in Daniel Cormier’s trophy case after Wednesday night.
The UFC’s reigning heavyweight champion won the inaugural Best MMA Fighter award at the 2019 ESPYs at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. He beat out fellow titleholders Amanda Nunes, Henry Cejudo, and Israel Adesanya.
In the past, MMA fighters competed in the Best Fighter category that also included boxers like previous winners Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. Former UFC champions to win the now-defunct award include Demetrious Johnson, Conor McGregor, and Ronda Rousey.
