According to BJPenn.com, and subsequently multiple other MMA outlets, an undisclosed injury has forced Cormier out of the April 23 rematch. UFC officials have yet to address Cormier’s status.
Jones was arrested Tuesday for probation violation after receiving five traffic tickets, one of which was drag racing that he admitted to in court Thursday in order to get released from jail.
Jones solidified his spot as the most decorated light heavyweight champion in UFC history after annihilating Cormier 15 months ago to notch is eighth consecutive title defense. However, Jones was temporarily suspend by the UFC and stripped of his hardware following April’s felony hit-and-run arrest where a pregnant motorist suffered a broken arm.
