The Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight division has come to a standstill in recent months, with champion Khabib Nurmagomedov forced to wait until this week’s outcome from the Nevada State Athletic Commission in relation to his involvement in the post-fight scuffle at the conclusion of UFC 229.
The champ was handed a nine-month suspension for his involvement; however, if he completes an anti-bullying public service announcement he will only have to serve six months. With that confirmed, the UFC apparently feels free to discuss his next opponent.
UFC President Dana White was a guest on ESPN and was asked if a rematch between Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor would happen anytime soon.
