Dana White won’t get to put on UFC 249 on April 18, but he’s pulling out all the stops for the next show scheduled on May 9.
The coronavirus pandemic has shut down almost every major sport on Earth, but the UFC president has been adamant about bringing mixed martial arts back sooner rather than later. He had a location and venue secured for UFC 249 but the plug was pulled at the last minute after the promotion’s broadcast partner at ESPN asked them to “stand down.”
Apparently, White and the UFC won’t stay seated for long, however, as a new card is already in the works for May 9 with three title bouts and a huge number of top-ranked fighters expected to compete.
