UFC middleweight Ricardo Abreu has been notified by the United States Anti-Doping Agency of a potential anti-doping violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collected on Dec. 21.
Abreu is already serving two-year suspension from USADA after testing positive for 19-norandrosterone (19-NA) above the decision limit of 3 ng/mL and 19-noretiocholanolone in an out-of-competition test on June 3. Both substances are metabolites of the anabolic steroid nandrolone. Under the terms of his current suspension, Abreu is not eligible to return to competition until July 1, 2018.
USADA will handle the results management and potential punishment regarding Abreu’s latest positive test.
