The announcement was made on Wednesday’s edition of “UFC Tonight.”
Just like in their initial encounter, the sequel will also take place at welterweight.
After Diaz served up an upset special over McGregor earlier this month, McGregor, the current UFC featherweight champion, initially said he planned on moving back down to defend his throne in his next outing. Apparently, McGregor can’t get the submission loss to Diaz off his mind and decided he wanted a do-over instead.
McGregor was scheduled to challenge UFC lightweight champ Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 196 in hopes of becoming the UFC’s first two-way champ, but dos Anjos broke his foot and was forced to pull out of the shootout at the 11th hour.
