Coach says ‘everybody’s hopeful’ about Angela Magana after ex-UFC fighter showing signs of recovery from coma

Earlier this week it was reported that former UFC strawweight Angela Magana fell into a coma after undergoing emergency surgery for a spinal injury at University Hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Magana, who said she thought she was going to die just moments before her operation, was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday and slipped into a coma while under anaesthesia.

“She’s in a coma, and we’re waiting to hear some positive news,” Magana’s coach Gabriel Lamastus told MMA Junkie earlier this week. “The surgery went fine. The problem was anesthesia. It’s very rare that patients react bad to anesthesia, but it does happen, and I guess this is one of those rare cases.
