Although UFC president Dana White recently announced that Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov would square off for the lightweight title at UFC 223, many fans are still hypothesizing a potential match-up between ‘The Eagle’ and Conor McGregor.
McGregor, who is still listed as the official 155-pound champion, hasn’t fought in the Octagon since his dismantling of Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205, when he made history by becoming the promotion’s first-ever simultaneous two-division champ (featherweight and lightweight).
The 29-year-old outclassed Alvarez at New York’s Madison Square Garden, eventually finishing ‘The Underground King’ with a four-punch combination in the second round.
