Former champion Chris Weidman is headed back to middleweight for his next fight where he will face Jack Hermansson in the five-round main event of UFC Oklahoma City on May 2.
The headlining fight was confirmed to MMA Fighting by multiple sources close to the situation with verbal agreements in place. ESPN initially reported the contest and the bout was later announced by the UFC.
Following a one-fight stint at light heavyweight, Weidman confirmed his plans to move back to 185 pounds where he previously reigned as champion.
The New York native is currently suffering through the toughest run of his entire career with a 1-5 record in his past six fights with his lone win coming against Kelvin Gastelum back in 2017.
