Chris Weidman: My losses were to ‘top five’ guys I was ‘doing really well against’

After going undefeated for 13 fights within a six-year period, Chris Weidman is suddenly on a skid. The former UFC middleweight champion is now 1-5, beginning with his 2015 title fight loss to Luke Rockhold.

The 36-year-old Weidman is very aware of the predicament he’s in. He knows he needs to “get a freaking W.” But at the same time, he isn’t beating himself up, knowing the quality of competition he’s faced.

“It’s all fights that they’re top five guys that I was right in there with and there’s no shame in that,” Weidman said in a recent pre-fight scrum for Saturday’s Las Vegas event (via MMA Junkie).
