Irish brawler and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight Cathal Pendred would be willing to step into the cage with CM Punk following some trash talk on Twitter this week.
Writing in the Irish Mirror on Thursday (Aug. 13, 2015), Pendred explained why he decided to mix it up with the former WWE wrestler-turned-UFC fighter who is currently training for a debut fight yet to be announced.
"But he's kind of the laughing stock of the UFC," wrote Pendred. "He's gone from wrestling, with it's scripted theatrics, into MMA, a legitimate, highly-skilled sport. In fairness he's trained at a really good gym for the last year but no one makes their MMA debut in the UFC - you slowly build yourself up, work your way through the ranks.
