UFC lightweight Carlos Diego Ferreira has been notified of a potential UFC Anti-Doping Policy violation and has been removed from his May 29 UFC Fight Night bout against Abel Trujillo.
The Las Vegas-based promotion released a statement on the matter Friday, revealing that Ferreira’s violation stemmed from an out-of-competition sample collection. As a result, the 31-year-old Brazilian has been handed a provisional suspension.
“USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case,” the statement read. “It is important to note that, under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full and fair review process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed.
