Most expected pay-per-view (PPV) darling Saul "Canelo" Alvarez to wreck shop last night (Sat., Sept. 17, 2016) against WBO Junior Middlweight champion Liam Smith in the main event of HBO Boxing's latest combat sports special, which took place inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Most turned out to be correct, as Alvarez's vicious body attack put Smith down for the count in nine rounds.

Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KO) received some flak from the boxing public for vacating his Middleweight belt in an effort to avoid Gennady Golovkin, but did as well as could be expected against the very game Smith (23-1-1, 13 KO).
