Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin official for September 16th

Canelo Alvarez easily dispatched Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a fight that didn’t live up to its promise of an all-out war between two of Mexico’s biggest boxing stars. Chavez Jr. turned in a diabolical performance, while Canelo barely broke a sweat on his way to a 120-108 unanimous decision win.

While the fight fizzled, much bigger news was confirmed in the aftermath. The much-discussed superfight between Canelo (49-1-1, 34 KOs) and Gennady Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) is now OFFICIAL for September 16th. Golovkin was ringside at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, and then entered the ring once the fight was announced.
