On May 4th, a massive middleweight championship unification bout is in store for fight fans to savor. WBC and WBA champion Canelo Alvarez (51-1-2, 35 KOs) will take on IBF titleholder Daniel Jacobs (35-2, 29 KOs) in a highly anticipated clash between two of the best 160 lbs fighters in the world.
Because the WBC title is at stake, the sanctioning body has a requirement that fighters weigh-in 30 days, 14 days, and 7 days out from fight night. At the 30-day mark, neither man can weigh more than 10% above the contracted limit. In this case, both Canelo and Jacobs have to be under 176 lbs.
