Caio Magalhaes given six-month suspension, community service for unsportsmanlike conduct

UFC middleweight Caio Magalhaes was given a six-month suspension and 40 hours of community service for unsportsmanlike conduct at a Thursday meeting of the Nevada Athletic Commission in Las Vegas, NV. The commission unanimously approved the sentence.

Magalhaes, 27, spit blood on opponent Josh Samman and referee John McCarthy following a first-round submission loss on July 12 at The Ultimate Fighter 21 Finale.

Magalhaes repeatedly apologized to McCarthy and the commission for his "absurd" actions, adding that he and Samman had dinner after the fight and the two buried had "buried the hatchet.
