It’s getting increasingly difficult to deny Demian Maia.
The Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt made a strong case for a welterweight title shot in the UFC on Fox 21 headliner on Saturday night, submitting Carlos Condit with a rear-naked choke just 1:52 into the opening round of their bout at the Rogers Center in Vancouver. It was the first time that anyone had submitted “The Natural Born Killer” in more than a decade.
Grappling dominance is nothing new for Maia in the Octagon, however, and the figures reflect his fine work in recent years.
