A whirlwind of alluring charisma, flawless technique and savage violence, Joanna Jedrzejczyk helped establish new boundaries for what was possible in women’s mixed martial arts.
The American Top Team export transitioned to MMA in 2012, rattled off 14 consecutive victories to start her career and reached the pinnacle of the sport less than three years after her debut. Jedrzejczyk laid claim to the undisputed Ultimate Fighting Championship women’s strawweight crown at UFC 185 on March 14, 2015 and went on to make five successful title defenses before being upset by Rose Namajunas.
