The 29-year-old UFC welterweight accepted a two-year sanction for a failed drug test taken in May of last year, the USADA announced Tuesday. Scott (11-6) tested positive for benzoylecgonine, a cocaine metabolite, which was discovered in an in-competition urine sample submitted at UFC Liverpool. Cocaine is prohibited in-competition per the UFC’s Anti-Doping Policy.
“USADA conducted a thorough investigation into Scott’s case and determined Scott had not provided verifiable evidence regarding the circumstances that led to his positive test,” the statement reads.
Scott’s two-year period of ineligibility dates back to July 3, 2018 (also when it was first announced that Scott had been flagged for a potential violation), meaning he will be eligible to fight again on July 3, 2020.
