Boxing Champ Amir Khan Enters MMA Field, Purchases Stake in Super Fight League

Decorated British boxer Amir Khan is dipping his toe into the waters of mixed martial arts.

Indian MMA organization Super Fight League (SFL) on Monday announced that Khan, 28, has purchased an undisclosed stake in the company. Founded in 2012, SFL has produced more than 50 events -- primarily in India, but also in the U.S. and Dubai -- along with the reality show “SFL Challengers.”

In a statement, Khan said he hopes to utilize his “experience and relationships in the fight world” to help advance a promotions which he believes “has tremendous growth potential in the MMA and sports entertainment space.
