Last weekend’s welterweight showdown between Amir Khan and Chris Algieri generated over one million viewers, according to a statement released Tuesday by Spike TV, the network that broadcast the fight.
The highest point of the telecast was during the 11:00-11:15 p.m. ET quarter hour, netting 1,120,000 viewers.
The fight saw Englishman Khan outbox the American over 12 rounds to win a unanimous decision. The telecast, including the re-broadcast that immediately followed the live airing, topped 1,133,000 total views.
The event was promoted by Premier Boxing Champions, the newest company headed by management guru Al Haymon that has taken the sport by storm during the first half of 2015.
