BJJ world champ steps in to face Cody Garbrandt on six-days notice

Augusto Mendes will have his UFC debut on short notice as he agreed to face Cody Garbrandt on February 21 after John Lineker had to pull out due to sickness.

Cody Garbrandt did not go too long without an opponent after John Lineker had to pull out of their bout due to illness. Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion, Augusto Mendes, has agreed to take on "No Love" six days shy of their fight on February 21, as Combate reported.

The 32-year old and 5-0 Mendes was supposed to debut in the UFC at UFC Fight Night 81, on January 17, against Jimy Hettes, but a rib injury forced him out of the contest.
