The UFC issued a statement late Monday night stating that former lightweight and welterweight champion B.J. Penn had been removed from his return fight against Cole Miller at UFC 199. The reason? A USADA violation due to using an IV of over 50ml in a six-hour period back in March.
In response, Penn quickly issued his own statement through his website, BJPenn.com:
"I voluntarily disclosed to USADA that during a non-fight period that I had an IV administered under the care of a doctor.
"The rule for IV usage had changed since my last fight in the UFC and was unaware of the change and voluntarily disclosed the information to USADA.
