Rory MacDonald’s move up to 185 pounds to take on Bellator MMA middleweight champion Gegard Mousasi at Bellator 206 on Sept. 29 didn’t go as planned, as the “Red King” got manhandled by his larger opponent before losing by a brutal second round TKO and suffering another nose break in the process.
Despite the nature of the loss to Mousasi, the 29-year-old doesn’t want to sit on the sidelines for long and according to Bellator President Scott Coker, is itching to make a return as soon as possible.
At the Bellator 208 press conference, Coker spoke about his welterweight champion’s desire to return quickly and how he’s trying to convince the former Ultimate Fighting Championship standout to heal up before rushing back to compete (via MMA Junkie).
