Those looking forward to Robin van Roosmalen’s Bellator debut will have to wait.
The former GLORY Kickboxing two-division champion missed weight by 9.25 pounds Friday morning ahead of his Bellator 232 bout with Cris Lencioni. He weighed in at 155.25, but was contracted to compete at 146.
Lencioni declined to fight an overweight van Roosmalen, and as a result, the featherweight contest has been scratched from Saturday’s card in Uncasville, Connecticut. Sherdog first reported the news Friday morning.
Lencioni will receive his show money for making weight, according to MMA Junkie.
Commissioner Mike Mazulli told MMA Junkie that he would be making a notation in van Roosmalen’s file with the Associatation of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports, not allowing van Roosmalen to fight in the featherweight division in the future.
