Bellator welterweight champion Rory MacDonald led a field of five fighters to be issued potentially lengthy medical suspensions in the aftermath of Bellator 220.
The California State Athletic Commission released the event’s finalized medical suspension report to MMA Fighting on Monday.
MacDonald fought to a majority draw against Jon Fitch in the main event of Bellator 220, which doubled as the final quarterfinal bout for Bellator’s welterweight grand prix. As a result of potential damage sustained in the contest, MacDonald will be forced to seek medical clearance for a potential right later epicondyle injury before being allowed to return to active competition, per California commission officials, or be suspended 180 days.
