New welterweight champion Rory MacDonald could be facing a potential six-month suspension following his victory over Douglas Lima in the Bellator 192 headliner.
MacDonald, who earned a grueling five-round decision over Lima at the Forum in Inglewood, Calif., on Saturday, battled through a massive hematoma on his right leg after absorbing numerous low kicks from his opponent. “The Red King” also may have fractured his right hand in the bout. MacDonald must have both injuries cleared by a physician or face 180 days on the sideline. At the minimum, he is out 45 days with 30 days of no contact.
