The old man is retired, but the Couture name keeps on trucking.
Lightweight Ryan Couture, the son of legendary former two-weight UFC champion Randy Couture, chalked up another win Saturday night at Bellator 180. The Las Vegas-based fighter earned a unanimous decision against Haim Gozali, getting a 30-26 score and a pair of 30-27s at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Couture set the tone in the early going by mimicking his father’s dirty boxing style to win the opening round. In the second, he wore Gozali down from top position.
Gozali, the first Israeli ever to compete at the famed Abu Dhabi jiu-jitsu tournament and a Renzo Gracie black belt, is a dangerous grappler with six of his seven career wins coming via submission.
