Two fighters received indefinite medical suspensions in the aftermath of Bellator 170, including one fighter that was given the lengthy sentence due to an “unreported stab wound,” according to information released by the California State Athletic Commission to MMA Fighting on Wednesday.
Welterweight fighter Christian Gonzalez was the recipient of the unusual suspension following his second-round loss to Daniel Rodriguez on the event’s preliminary card. He, along with Brennan Ward — who suffered a brutal knockout in Bellator 170’s co-main event — will be required to seek medical and commission clearance before being allowed to return to active competition.
