For the first time since joining Bellator back in 2013, Cheick Kongo was able to put three wins in a row. The Frenchman outpointed Tony Johnson in the main event of Friday's Bellator 161.
It was a fight with little action that ended up being determined by takedowns and control. In the first round, there was a lot of clinching and some striking, but nothing significant from either side until the very end of the round where Kongo landed a takedown and immediately moved to mount to land a few strikes. In the second, it was Johnson who got an early takedown and controlled Kongo from back mount for the entirety of the round.
