Tito Ortiz didn’t win light heavyweight gold this past Saturday, but he was nonetheless the highest-paid fighter at Bellator 142 "Dynamite."
Ortiz tapped to a reverse triangle from Liam McGeary 4:42 into the opening stanza of their headlining clash at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif. “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” pocketed $300,000 in defeat, significantly more than the reigning champion McGeary, who earned $50,000 with no win bonus. The California State Athletic Commission released salary figures from the event on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, promotional newcomer Phil Davis garnered $130,000 for vanquishing Emanuel Newton ($70,000) and Francis Carmont ($17,000) to win the four-man light heavyweight tournament.
