In Bellator’s relatively thin heavyweight division, there is plenty at stake for Cheick Kongo and Alexander Volkov.
Both Kongo (238.6) and Volkov (242) made weight without issue Thursday ahead of their headlining showdown at Bellator 139, which takes place Friday at the Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Kan. The evening’s main card airs on Spike TV at 9 p.m. ET, while the preliminary bill streams on Spike.com beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
A longtime UFC veteran, Kongo is 4-2 since signing with Bellator in 2013. He came up short in his first shot at heavyweight gold, losing a five-round verdict to Vitaly Minakov at Bellator 115.
