Pat Curran got the main card of Bellator 139 started with a unanimous decision victory over Emmanuel Sanchez. Curran, a two-time Bellator champion, put an end to a two fight skid while improving his record to 21-7. The highlight of the night came from newcomer Hisaki Kato who delivered a stunning Superman-punch knockout of Joe Schilling in their middleweight clash. Kato is now 5-1 with all of his wins coming via KO/TKO. Unfortunately the lightweight battle between David Rickels and John Alessio would be declared a no contest. Rickels was dominating the fight before he connected with an unintentional illegal knee to the side of his grounded opponent’s head.
