It has been a talking point for many years, that major mixed martial arts organizations adopt the 165-pound weight class. Well, British Columbia’s Battlefield Fight League has made the decision to drop the 170-pound weight class and add the 165-pound and 175-pound divisions.
News of the change came on BFL’s official Facebook page.
Current BFL welterweight champion David Perron is no longer the 170-pound title holder, but instead the 175-pound champ. They also announced that the professional 165-pound division will be coming soon.
BFL President Jay Golshani explained the reasoning behind the abolishment of the division.
