Austin Batra found a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in the strangest way possible.
An amateur welterweight title fight at a Battlefield Fight League show in Coquitlam, British Columbia, on Saturday featured one of the most bizarre endings in recent memory, as Batra followed up a clear-cut knockout punch with an absolutely insane flying double axe handle strike to the fallen Perry Hayer despite the official having already jumped in to wave off the bout:
It’s unclear what motivated Batra to attempt this late strike, but based on the brief clip above it appears that he had at least a couple of seconds to register that the fight was over and that the referee had positioned himself between he and Hayer.
