Augusto Mendes got a call from the UFC to replace injured Jimy Hettes at Sunday’s UFC Fight Night 81, facing Charles Rosa on a week’s notice. Hours after signing the deal, he ended up injured as well.
"I was in a four-week camp for my five-round title fight at Legacy when I got the offer from the UFC," Mendes told MMAFighting.com. "I got all the documents and exams the UFC required and signed with them. On my first training the next morning, just rolling with my student to sweat and start cutting weight, he tried to pass my guard and fell with his shoulder on my rib.
