Anthony Smith: I hope Cormier does ‘the right thing’, otherwise he can ‘get out of my way’

Surging light heavyweight contender Anthony Smith, who broke into the official UFC top-ten rankings with his first-round destruction of Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua at UFC Fight Night 134, has avoided any discussion of a title shot vs. Daniel Cormier.

And that’s because, according to ‘Lionheart’, he trusts ‘DC’ will do the ‘right thing’ and either return to the light heavyweight division to defend his belt or vacate it for good. Cormier knocked out Stipe Miocic at UFC 226 to become the promotion’s first ever simultaneous light heavyweight and heavyweight champion.

“I don’t worry about everybody else too much, but if I go in there and I do what I think that I’m going to do and I finish Volkan, and I do it devastatingly like I think that I’m going to – DC, when I ran into him in Albuquerque, he made it a point to mention that I’m like one of the only guys that hasn’t called him out because I think it’s a waste of time.
