Anthony Pettis undergoes successful elbow surgery

Anthony Pettis underwent successful elbow surgery Tuesday in Las Vegas, according to his manager Mike Roberts.

The surgery was performed by the UFC's orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Steven Sanders. Pettis suffered a torn muscle and ligaments in his right elbow last week during wrestling practice. The injury forced him to withdraw from his July 25 fight against Myles Jury.

The former UFC lightweight champion is tentatively scheduled to be out for four-to-six months, according to Roberts, however, he will be reevaluated in the coming weeks.

Pettis most recently lost the UFC lightweight title to Rafael dos Anjos in March.
