Late Thursday night, Fox Sports Live reported Pettis has suffered an elbow injury that will force the injury-prone Pettis from his July 25 tango against Myles Jury. Edson Barboza has agreed to step in and co-headline UFC on FOX 16 against Jury.
Pettis has only fought twice since beating Benson Henderson in August 2013 to capture the UFC lightweight title. “Showtime” was looking to rebound from losing his belt to Rafael dos Anjos in March.
No word on how long Pettis will be forced to ride the pine.
