Anderson Silva could return to the UFC before the year is through.
The former middleweight champion received a one-year suspension from USADA for a failed drug test ahead of his bout with Kelvin Gastelum at UFC Fight Night Shanghai this past November. The anti-doping organization announced on Wednesday that Silva’s positive test, collected on Oct. 26, 2017, was due to a contaminated supplement. Silva’s suspension is retroactive to Nov. 10, 2017, so he will be able to compete in the Octagon after Nov. 10, 2018.
The 43-year-old Brazilian previously tested positive for two different anabolic steroids -- drostanolone metabolites and androstane -- prior to a January 2015 bout against Nick Diaz at UFC 183.
