On Wednesday, former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva (pictured) underwent successful surgery to have his gallbladder removed after suffering from abdominal pains. “The Spider” will be sidelined from 4-6 weeks.
Silva was slated to face Hall Saturday at UFC 198. Instead of trying to locate a last-second replacement, the UFC will save Hall for another day.
“Earlier this week, medical personnel determined that Anderson Silva was suffering from inflammation of the gallbladder, a serious ailment that forced him off the UFC 198 card,” the UFC expressed in a statement. “As a result of the condition, Silva had successful, minimally invasive surgery in Brazil today to remove the gallbladder.
