Anderson Silva Banned One Year Following Failed Drug Test

Nearly seven months after testing positive for multiple banned substances on two separate occasions, former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva (pictured) finally stood before the Nevada Athletic Commission Thursday to explain himself.

Today’s hearing contained everything from confusion to Cialis – true story. When it was all said and done, the NAC suspended Silva one year retroactive to his January 31 fight date and fined $380,000 ($200,000 win bonus and 30% of $80,000 show money).

Silva flunked his UFC 183 out-of-completion, pre-fight drug exam on January 9 for two different performance-enhancing drubs – Drostanolone, an anabolic steroid, and Androsterone, a form of endogenous testosterone.
