Bill Mercer opens the show, telling us the main event will be for the American Heavyweight Championship. The champion Kevin Von Erich will defend his title against Terry Gordy. Mercer says “this has the overtone of the revenge factor. When Terry Gordy was the gatekeeper in that NWA World Heavyweight Championship match.” I like how that match happened more than a couple weeks ago and the waves are still washing to the shore of the Dallas Sportatorium.
