In the co-main event of Eleider Alvarez vs. Sergey Kovalev 2, lightweight prospect Teofimo Lopez (12-0, 10 KOs) received a step up in competition in the form of former title challenger Diego Magdaleno (31-3, 13 KOs). It was a superb outing from Lopez, who only turned professional in November 2016, and he was an offensive machine.
Lopez thoroughly outboxed Magdaleno throughout the evening, showing off tremendous angles, athleticism, power shots, punch selection, the whole shebang. He scored a knockdown of Magdaleno in round six, crumbling his opponent with a left hook. Magdaleno, tough as nails, got up and survived the round, but it didn’t need to go on much further.
